Core Product Definition
What You're Buying
A dedication record — an entry in the Stellarlovers registry linking your chosen name/message to a specific star from the HYG catalog. This is a digital record only. You are not purchasing the star itself, any physical object, or any property right in the celestial body. Stars are designated by catalog ID and IAU-recognized proper name where applicable; Stellarlovers does not assert naming authority over any celestial body.
What You Get
Upon purchase, you receive: a unique registry code (e.g. SL-7K2M-9QX), a digital certificate (PDF) showing the star's coordinates, magnitude, and your dedication text, access to the star's public lookup page, and the ability to set public display preferences.
Fan Dedications & Fractions
Ambassador Pages
Fan pages created for public figures, celebrities, athletes, or organizations are unofficial fan dedications unless the subject has verified and claimed the page. "Unofficial" badges are displayed on unclaimed pages. Claimed pages receive "Official Fan Constellation" designation.
Fractional Dedications
Fraction buyers purchase a numbered partition (1–10) of an existing dedicated star. Fraction holders receive a dedication record for their fraction number but do not co-own the star or influence its disposition. Fraction positions fill on a first-come, first-served basis.
Retired Pages
If an ambassador page is retired, existing dedications remain active and accessible. No new dedications can be made to the page. All certificates and lookup URLs remain valid.
Payments & Cancellations
Payment Processing
Payments are processed through Stripe (worldwide) and local rails where available. By making a purchase, you agree to the PSP's terms of service.
No Refunds on Digital Items
All dedication purchases are final. No refunds will be issued except as required by applicable law (e.g. EU 14-day cooling-off period for digital content not yet fully delivered). Keepsake (physical merchandise) orders may be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase.
Constellation Plans
Recurring annual dedication plans bill via stored payment authorization. You may cancel any time before the next billing date. Cancelled plans retain all previously dedicated stars.
User Content & Conduct
Dedication Text
You are responsible for the dedication text, star name, and any attribution you provide. Stellarlovers reserves the right to remove or redact content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, impersonating another person, infringing on intellectual property rights, or otherwise objectionable. Removal will not result in a refund.
Public Display
Choosing to make a dedication public means your star's name, constellation, and attribution (if set) will be visible on stellarlovers.com. Public display is opt-in and can be toggled off at any time via your My Sky settings.
Service Availability
Site & Maps
Stellarlovers provides the website, sky maps, star catalog, registry lookup, and any future AR features on an "as available" basis. We strive for high uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
Registry Permanence
The Stellarlovers registry database is backed up nightly. In the event of company dissolution or acquisition, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to transfer registry records to a successor operator or make a final downloadable archive available to registered users.
Limitation of Liability
Maximum Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stellarlovers' total liability for any claims arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for the specific dedication that gave rise to the claim.
No Astronomical Warranty
Star positions, magnitudes, and classifications are sourced from the HYG Database v3.8 and may contain inaccuracies. Stellarlovers makes no warranty as to the scientific accuracy of catalog data or sky maps beyond what is reasonably expected from a consumer star-dedication service.
General
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Manila, Philippines.
Changes
Stellarlovers may update these terms with 30 days' written notice (email to the address on file). Continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
